The Frog Prince

Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a frog prince who lived in a beautiful pond. In this wonderful garden there were lilies, lotus flowers and fragrant herbs everywhere... It was a real paradise! All the creatures that lived there loved the pond and they also loved the young prince, who was gentle and kind to all alike.

Despite of all his good fortune, the prince wasn’t happy. He felt a void he couldn’t explain or understand. His parents, the king and queen, tried to cheer him up, but none of their efforts brought him the joy he sought so eagerly. Feeling tired of the castle, he decided to visit the kingdom. During his stroll, he felt enchanted by the lilies, glowing majestically under a bright golden sunset. The prince, captivated by their beauty, asked that all of them were taken to adorn the palace, expecting that this vision would bring him the daily ecstasy he so eagerly desired. The flowers delighted him for a while, but soon the gloom returned, along with the void.

A few days had passed by, when he took a sudden interest for lavender. They were deeply appreciated by the young prince, who proceeded to fill the castle with the gorgeous fragrant plants. He enjoyed their perfume, fascinated by the delicate perfection of the tiny mauve flowers, and, again, his heart was joyful… but only for some time.

He searched for joyfulness in every place he could imagine, following fleeting fancies and illusory dreams, without ever finding real happiness. In this manner, the palace overflowed with the most marvelous objects, the most delicious delicacies and all the best and finest pleasures imagination could conceive.

One morning, when the prince was sitting by the pond, he heard a jolly song, so beautiful and fun, he couldn’t avoid following it. He imagined such perfect bliss could only be felt and expressed by fabulous creatures, like fairies or unicorns. But when he found its source he felt at once amazed and deeply confused. It was just an ordinary group of children! Cute and lovely baby animals, playing and singing, creating the most fantastic melody out of the purest and greatest merriness they felt in their hearts!

He was absorbed admiring them, absolutely enthralled by this divine spectacle, when he felt the irresistible wish to contribute to their party. The prince rushed to the castle and soon returned with the most extraordinaire gifts. The children were delighted with all the toys, treats and presents brought by the young frog. They thank him with hugs and cheers, and invited the prince to join them. For the first time in his whole life, he felt truly happy. He shared his blessings with all the creatures, and dedicated his life to helping others.

The young frog prince was even more appreciated and admired by all. His parents were so proud of his kind and noble heart, they proclaimed him king of the pond; and the young sovereign became famous for his compassion and generosity.

Homemade Cupcake

I love the aesthetics of words, both written and printed, and for a long time I’ve been looking for a way to recycle newspapers, using to create art. I believe words also deserve a special place in museums, and this was the way I found to fulfill both desires.

I cut the newspaper by hand, unevenly, and glued the pieces to the front of a poster (I was also looking for a way to recycle my collection of movie posters). Then I drew the different shapes separately and colored them with pastels, which were later glued them in place over the newspaper canvas. I finally drew swirls with a sharp pointed stick over the drawing, to create different patterns and textures.

Licorice Apotheosis

I live on sugary love,
where space-time sighs;
flying higher than a dove.

Much sweeter than pies
are peaceful skies above...
Complete with blooming surprise.

Jingle Jolly

The joy of laughter
à gogo; joyous melody
of cupreous tinkles.

Bedtime Rhyme for Joyful Dreams

As I lay down in my bed,
Joys and sweet dreams I embed.
I'll dream of apricot, honey and sugar delights,
and sunshine and radiance and heavens so bright.
I'll rest in a peaceful and blissful embrace,
and wake in the morning with a smile, full of grace.

Verse Perfect

Pour your gentle kisses on my chest,
let those joyful memories rain
their kind wishes in a cheerful fest
unveiling more feelings arcane...

Hidden whispers unrevealed;
secrets fall apart, solving
so many fears deeply concealed,
old confusions and molded hopes dissolving.

Secret Song

Let us go there,
beyond the sky,
so free and bare
without reply.

An open chest
shall be our offer
to fearless crests,
where clouds are softer.

Let us go there,
amidst the air,
where life is fair
beyond compare.
